Ryan is a native of California. He played junior tournaments, USTA Jr Team, and was ranked as a junior. Ryan lettered in tennis all four years in High School and was All League. In 1990 he was part of the Fresno City College Men’s Tennis Team. They won the CVC and were ranked Top 5 in the State.
After graduating from Fresno State University, Ryan moved to Seattle, WA. In 2010, Ryan decided to share his passion of tennis and became the tennis coach of Tyee High School in SeaTac, WA. In one short year he was able to increase student participation, donate racquets and equipment to students with the help of his friends, get the school their first win in over eight years, and take players to WIAA Districts.
In 2013 Ryan moved to Kennedy Catholic High School as the JV Coach for both the Boys and Girls Teams. In 2014 Ryan took over the program as Head Coach. He compiled a Boys Team record of 18-2 and a Girls Team record of 28-0. His teams won three Seamount League Titles and he received the 2015 & 2016 Seamount League Coach of the Year.
Today, Ryan enjoys running Crosscourt Tennis Academy. He hosts a junior summer camp, an annual junior trip to Wenatchee, WA, and gives lessons to children and adults. In the winter you can find him teaching adult classes and giving private lessons at the Amy Yee Tennis Center in Seattle, WA.
